In addition, the PLA are starting to used remotely operated “smart signals” to indicate if a particular arch is in use. Current examples – near to Thames tideway construction sites, are:
- Blackfriars No 2 (inbound, NTM M41 of 2019)
- Vauxhall No 4 (outbound, NTM M25 of 2019)
Sound Signals
It’s worth look at the signalling sounds in the CEVNI rules below (pages 135 to 140) which are seemingly at odds with the PLA requirements. The view we take is when in Rome do as the Romans do !
The CEVNI rules and regulations are available here. The RYA do an online training course and test.
